it looks like you would block access if you put seating there. what all did you wish to do in the room, are you adding to what you have? how many use on a regular basis.

Thank you for commenting. I am looking to purchase a new sofa, tv stand, rug, wall art. I've found items I like, but am unsure what would "work" best in the room. I have thought about an upholstered bench or something along the railing to add something to that space. I'm not the best at envisioning design, so a year from now, I'll still be debating...without help :) And we have a family of 4 (which includes a wheelchair)

sorry gone so long. I think that fireplace is designed just to be the center of attention. i believe the bench is a great idea, as long as there are no little ones, to fall off. I would go with a sofa as as opposed to a sectional. do you have any particular colors you like?

start with a rug, larger than what you have now. I wouldn't worry about a bench by the railing until you get the large pieces situated. I think 2 sofas might be a good idea. 1 in front of windows (it will have view of FP) and 1 where sectional is now. Much longer TV console to fill the wall better
