I don't know your price point. But I don't think this kitchen is that dated. I actually like the color of your cabinets. I think there is a small trend way from white these days. maybe I'm partial b/c I just redid my cabinets in the same color

One think you might consider are new pulls. Something simple in a dark finish might make them less dated.

Your kitchen has a lot of quality products. It just needs some décor touches of staging to add some color. Best wishes!

Thanks for the comment/reassurance. I would do the stain color again myself. Houzz is full of white and gray...and the stories say , “horrid brown kitchen” with an after photo of white. So I assume I am horridly dated, but maybe not quite so much. Just unpopular :-)

How about painting the wainscoting and walls something to lend the farmhouse look you’are going for? Your kitchen looks fine to me, and the cup pulls are perfect for the farmhouse look.

Nothing. It’s already a clean blank slate. If I were house hunting I would prefer yours ( uncluttered ) than a kitchen cluttered with “ accessories “ .... I could visualize what I could do with it, if anything.

From the one picture posted the kitchen looks fine - we have seen a lot worse on this site. If you post a couple of other pictures, we may be able to help further.

I like white kitchens, but i would buy a house with a kitchen like yours. The cabinets are a simple design, it looks clean and in good condition. When i was selling last year, my realtor told me not to “stage” with decorative things, set tables or flowers, etc. Just get rid of any clutter, clean out closets, and clean as a whistle.

I just sold my house in three days and did absolutely nothing to stage except clean, clean, clean. My kitchen definitely needed updating, but my realtor told me we cannot predict what the buyers would like, so not to spend a single cent on it. I did what she said and it we had a contract in a flash. I think your kitchen looks fine (better than my old one!) and I wouldn't do a thing. Best of luck!

I love your kitchen! Like everyone else is saying, new hardware is all you need. I would also paint the bead board wainscoting a lighter color. Right now it blends in with your cabinets.

Your kitchen is spotless and decluttered. Add a vase of flowers on open house day.

How is the overall lighting in the kitchen? If there's very little natural light you might consider adding lighting under the cabinets.

The backsplash and countertops are too matchy-matchy. Same with the cabinets and flooring. If you're wanting to incorporate stainless steel, maybe do so with the countertops. But be aware of the cost though.

Notice how the cabinets are darker compared to the floor? It looks nice. And the stainless steel allows light to bounce around. So incorporate something more modern in the pull handles in stainless.

If you're not wanting to put any money into updating the kitchen, then maybe consider giving a credit of $10 - $15 grand for any updating.

Don't paint the cabinets! Your kitchen is fine just the way it is right now. I'm a Realtor and in my area, your kitchen is not dated at all.

Clean and organized is the best thing you can do to stage your home. Lighting is important and it looks like your kitchen is already clean, organized and well lit. Fresh flowers or a bowl of colorful fruit are a nice touch, but not required :)

Don't try to update for the next owner. It's clean and appears to be in very good shape. Shine the place up like Denita said and let the realtors do their jobs!

Nothing to worry about with this kitchen. As already stated, it looks clean and uncluttered...both are key. Buyers tend to do their own thing when it comes to kitchens. They're likely to change whatever updating you do.

Your kitchen is very pretty. Not horribly dated. You can easily do a few things to tweak it but overall your kitchen from that one photo looks pretty. Is your home already listed? Shoppers love light, so make sure the light bulbs are super bright and maybe add some under cab lighting. A few thoughts (keep in mind I am only going by one photo) And if your house is listed on the high end of the market you may need to.... Change the hardware, paint the chair rail molding to white, But keep cabinets the dark color. Get rid of the back splash.

Do you have any more photos of your kitchen? What do your light fixtures look like? What about appliances? And the sink area?

One trick I did with my kitchen was put in round mirrors on the shelf in the upper glass part of the cab. It reflected light back into the room and up. You could only see the small mirrors (bought at hobby lobby) if you climbed a chair and saw it laying down flat under the the light. It added brightness. And was a cheap way to brighten the interior of the cabs making them look even bigger.

And organize the inside of the cabs. I know, I know.. But when your shoppers come in they want to see things looking tidy, organized and spacious. They will open the doors and peek inside, show them how great the space is.

When we listed our last house we took everything out except our bed with all new all white bedding, put all our stuff in luggage, we were planning to mostly eat out during that time, and put all our stuff in the luggage after getting ready, we kept one sitting area and the kitchen table. Make sure your Realtor builds anticipation they can make a listing ''Coming soon!'' We had two showings on the first day (Saturday) back to back, they crossed paths (great strategy) and we accepted the first asking price offer Sunday night, this house was the best location in the city, we did nothing but some landscaping and just sat on it for 3 years, made enough to cover all Realtor/closing fees. If you keep it clean and empty the potential buyers imagination wont be so influenced, you never know what their style may be if anything as suggested a fresh floral arrangement and plants are always nice, and the bathrooms must remain functional with clean linens and open doors, and window treatments, you want it to be as lit as possible.

Thanks. Obviously I like the kitchen too as I choose the finishes. I guess being almost 60 I assume the younger buying crowd will “have to have” white or gray. And ithe kitchen would paint up nice. I want to “suggest” that it could be done by creating a farmhouse ethic...the galvanized tray and that slightly ugly fixture over the sink. I am thinking galvanized canisters too. And the tray will be filled with terra cotta pots with live flowering plants when I put the house on the market. Thanks again for the encouragement...if I get a low offer saying they want to update the kitchen I will know it is not dated but just not what they want.

In my MIL’s bathroom we replaced one of those with cans. It didn’t cost much and made a huge difference. Raised the ceiling, improved the lighting and really updated the room.

Nice looking kitchen...everything is dated in someone's book so no need to be concerned. My suggestion would be to stash almost everything on the countertop. You could keep one or possibly two items but put the rest away so buyers wont think there is a lack of storage space. I would leave the coffee maker out and possibly the crock of utensils but put the rest away

You have a lovely kitchen. Keep it as uncluttered as possible when it's being shown. There is a buyer for every home, so you just have to find the one.

The cabinets are fine. The light fixture would be a big turn off for me (any fluorescent in the middle of the ceiling). But that's an easy fix; it's one of the first things I did in my house. The fluorescents are now lighting the basement and the boob lights are in a landfill somewhere.

We sold our 30 year old home in one week. It was very clean, the yard was beautiful, and there was absolutely no clutter. We did put fresh flowers or small house plants in all the rooms.
