kitchen floor problem

we are redoing out kitchen and expanding our dining room which will make it more open to the kitchen. there is hardwood flooring in the diningroom and tile in the kitchen. I would like to replace the tile in the kitchen but don't know how to keep it separate from wood in the diningroom once the wall is down.... any suggestions?

Don’t take thevwall down if you don’t want to redo the floors in the whole house to match.

Removing a wall = need new flooring to "fill" the space where the wall was. If you are LUCKY you have SOLID hardwood floors that are site finished. This is the EASIEST thing to deal with. All you do is find more of the same species/cut/plank width. You have a hardwood flooring professional come in and weave in the new product. They will then sand and finish the ENTIRE FLOOR (old and new) and then stain/refinish to your liking.

If you are UNLUCKY you have "factory finished" hardwoods (engineered or solid) that have been out of stock for 5+ years = never to be found again on this earth. If this is the case, you need strong understanding of design to get this to work. Or simply bite the bullet and rip out all the wood and then start everything from scratch.
