Do potted hyacinths grow slower outside?

last modified: 8 years ago

I bought a pot of 3 hyacinths yesterday, planted in potting mix. I want it for my dining room table for Easter, as I love the scent. I chose one where one was just starting to bloom at the base of its flower cluster, and 3 more were in bud. I kept it outside, thinking to slow it down. It’s mid-50’s here.

But I don’t know if that really does it, or not. Ideally, I’d want them fully open for Easter dinner. Thanks!
