Gorgeous!!

I got one of these in the rainbow of roses collection this spring. So far it seems like it may not make it, but these pictures will keep me hoping for it to spring into action.

I love it !! I got one as well, your bush photos look almost like geraniums ( which I adore ! ) . Looks like a fantastic rose !

Wow! This photo showed up on the bottom of the last thread I was reading, where it says “More Discussions”. The picture caught my eye because I thought it looked like a tree peony bloom. That first photo really does remind me of one. It’s lovely and quite unique. How’s the growth habit been for you so far? I like it an awful lot, and when I go look it up on HMF, I’m just hoping it’s a small, compact bush. Sabalmatt, PLEASE tell me ‘Easy on the Eyes’ is not a giant grower. Thanks. Oh gosh! Now I'm sorry I got Violet's Pride instead of this in my Rainbow of Roses grab bag. Maybe in the next one! : ) Please keep us updated on it, although I think quite a few got this in their Springhill roses.

I just found out Easy on the Eyes is available at my favorite local plant place, Edwards Greenhouse. It will be either a 3 gallon or five gallon pot for $18.95. If I'd bought it by yesterday, it would have been 10% off. That's cheaper than Walmart which offers Easy on the Eyes through Hirt's Greenhouse (not the best reviews on this place, but they have only a few left). Diane

Easy on the eyes is new to me.. I’m not sure what size it will grow into. It’s one of Weeks’ ‘easy to love’ roses and I’ve read it will grow 3’-4’ tall x 3’ wide.

I got this in the rainbow collection - looking forward to seeing it bloom. The photos are gorgeous!

Al Mitchell, I believe Easy on the Eyes is a hulthemia (a close rose relative of a rose) cross with a rose. There are a bunch of such crosses being sold already. Diane

Here's a cluster showing all the different colors. Plant is nice & bushy, about 3'. Great spicy fragrance.

Here's the full bush shot. I took these on a visit to the Huntington Library Botanical Gardens last fall. It looks like a heavy bloomer.

Thanks!!! I am so glad I bought Easy on the Eyes. It is gorgeous! I had to look up Huntington Library Botanical Gardens. Looks to be in CA. Mine probably won't get as big here in Denver but I love the roses that bunch the flowers into sprays like that and the colors are fantastic.

I am loving Easy on the Eyes.

It is fast becoming one of my favorite roses. It was even cane hardy here for me in the Denver area.

High Country Roses web site says 3-4'. Mine was put in 5/20 as a band and is between 1.5-2ft tall. It was completely cane hardy over the winter so this is one years growth. I fully expect it to get to the 3-4 ft. My Pretty Lady Roses say 3-4 ft and two of them are over 4 ft tall. About 4.5'

I tried to get more of a straight on picture of the bush. It is a little lopsided as we did no trimming at all this spring.

Here it is in relation to Amiga Mia, Iceberg and Dainty Bess.

Amiga Mia and Iceberg are cane hardy. Dainty Bess is not so starts over every year.

Spring is when I most appreciate my cane hardy roses as there is very little to do to them. Basically just cut off the dead flowers from the fall.

Here she is today, May 26th 2024. 3' wide, 2.5' tall. A couple of buds have color but they aren't visible in the photo because they are on top. This is in-line with where most of my rose bed is at this time of year.

The other nice thing is how easy she is to dead head. Cutting off whole spent sprays is alot easier than taking individual flowers.

mmmm - unreal how many buds there are!! I hope my bare root does that well...it's not doing anything but trying to survive our weather. blech.

I think I will plant this one. It’s so pretty! Love Eyes for You but I can’t find it in the US.

Melissa, I think you will be happy with it. When the sprays bloom the are a solid wall of color.

There actually is a flower this morning, I just missed it earlier.

rosecanadian, I think you will also like it. It is an absolutely stunning rose.

I should mention it isn't a continuous bloomer for me. It does some repeating but not on the order with my continuous bloomers, if my memory is correct. So you definitely want to locate it among more continuous bloomers. It also gets some shade due to location but both Iceberg on one side and Calico Gal on the other, as well as Livin' Easy and Dainty Bess in front are more continuous bloomers.

Ohhh, I hate when that happens! You've got a spot picked out. You select a rose of a certain size and color. You plant it and take good care of it. Then suddenly it's something else!

How are your temps? Do you think you can successfully receive another rose right now?

I am not sure which rose they sent you as don't have it but it isn't easy on the eyes. I hate when I get the wrong rose and I hope they replace it for you right away.

Well after lots in the hundreds, we actually are in the 80s this week. Still, I think it would be best to wait for September.

We are having a cooler week also. I'd be tempted to call them today and get it shipped right away. But I'm impatient when I want to see first blooms on a new rose. :-) Is refund an option with them?

I would bet you can ask them to send your replacement later or get credit if you cant have it delivered now due to temps. At the very least email them now and start the process.

They don’t have that many red singles or near singles so a quick look through their catalog might help narrow it down. I see they have one called Eyepaint which seems possible due to close name and color but it does have a white eye and may be more fully single than your rose (hard to tell from the picture).

Just got In Your Eyes from Heirloom last month and she’s starting bloom. The comments on HMF weren’t very promising but so far I’m liking her! She is in afternoon shade, which might help with the issue others mentioned about the colors washing out. She will be joining my Eyes for You in a yellow and purple/pink bed with The Poet’s Wife and a few others I’m still deciding on.

Melissa - rats that they sent you the wrong rose...nowhere near as pretty as Easy on the Eyes.

I’ve been reading this thread with interest because I enjoy a rose that’s a bit out of the ordinary. I’m really curious how Easy on the Eyes compares to Eyeconic Plum Lemonade. They look pretty similar except that the latter appears richer in color in the pictures. It doesn’t seem to enjoy the quality of fragrance EotE, but it’s also a Hulthemia hybrid and seems to be a smalll compact bush.
