When addressing the type of window treatment that you want to use for your space, its important to address the style of your home first… and you did, which is great! Since the style of your home is “farmhouse” you should think about using rod-pocket sheer curtains. The curtain length should also touch the surface of your flooring. This choice of this type of curtain style would be a good one for your bedroom because it will be light and airy and doesn’t need much styling once they are arranged to your liking on the curtain rod.

For your lower level, that’s not “strange” but you should definitely consider adding curtains to that space; it’ll offer privacy, character, possibly color, and can add an elegant appearance from the exterior and interior view. Using the rod pocket curtains for the lower level would suit you well since you like the natural light in your space. Something to note about rod pocket curtains, is that once you arrange them the way you want, they are not meant to be opened or close. Therefore, if you want your curtains to be operable (especially for your bedroom), you should consider grommet styled curtains (this can be open and closed whenever you want!)
