Hey there everybody.. I am working on a decorative planter ( or Vase) for mothers day. I have this crazy idea in my head and I have been searching all over the internet to see if it will work... but I cannot find anything similar to what I am trying to do. I need to know if the mechanics will work out... the dos and do not's ect... I have been working with Glass etching and Cutting, I have all the tools and I know how to do that part... but its the plant idea that I am having a hard time with. I am turning a large Tequilla bottle into a planter/vase. (will upload photos) I am etching the front of it with a beautiful design HOWEVER On the sides and possibly the back, I am wanting to a create a few holes, maybe circles or squares or something cute... BECAUSE I want to plant a vine or a type of flower that will grow up and out the top as well as the sides where the holes are. VISION- the flower or vine leaves hanging out of the holes or peeking or even wrapping around the bottle. I need help knowing if this will work... a few questions I have are:

1. How much water do vines need? Or does it vary based on the plant?

2. How high the holes would have to be if they are possible to make?

3. If my Bottle of choice will work for my Project.

4. Some names of plants that would be a good Choice for this project (indoor plant)

5. Should I start with a seed, or a starter plant?

6. Best kinds of soil and gravel if needed.

7. How much of the top of the bottle do i need to cut off.. i was only planning on cutting the tip with the threads off. I just need to know how much my plant will need to breathe.. I REALLY REALLY REALLY want this to work.. as you can see I am A tiny bit lost.

Nail file is so you can get rough size.Dimensions are 11.5'' \29cm Length, 4.5"/ 11.4cm (at the base width) 3.5"/9cm (width and the top) roughly 16.6 inches all the way around at the widest part close to the base. and 14 inches all the way around at the top.

Some of the Plants I am Interested in using for this project are:

1. Common Ivy - hedera helix

2. Begonia (pink dragon)

3. Tradescantia Pallida

4. Plectranthus Scultellariodes

I am taking Plant Suggestions as well. Love colorful plants obviously.. But i am in love with Ivy.. Anything that is just green works as well.
