Looking for some expert advice on recessed and pendant light layout for our kitchen remodel. Current plan is the layout shown in the figure below, There will also be under-cabinet lighting. One dilemma is whether to place the recessed lights at 36" out from the wall, as I see in many design photos, or to place them at 24" out above the edge of the countertops, as I've seen recommended. Is that necessary with under-cab lighting? Does it make more sense? In our kitchen design, if we had the recessed lights at 24" out, how would we lay out the vertical line of lights on the right side, where 2 of the lights are in front of the refrigerator and pantry? Those can't be placed at 24" out obviously. Thoughts, advice? Thank you.
