well can't see to decide?

Sorry, have a couple other duplicate posts, but here are some photos. Also trying to figure out layout of room. This is what I posted on the other posts as well. If you have ideas, would love to hear them
Pic of my family room. Will be putting a entertainment console under tv where hole is. Trouble with how furniture should go since tv is on the LH side if the wall. Also the grey and brown, I am not totally sold on. Not sure if I should do a sectional or two couches.

I personally would go for something colorful in your light and bright room. Everyone has gray and/or brown and it's boring. The gray couch looks very nice and streamlined. I'm sorry, but the brown leather thing is already out of style and looks lumpy and shapeless. Be brave and choose some beautiful colors and then a large and gorgeous rug with colors that tie it all together. If you look on Pinterest and Houzz you'll find many beautiful combinations of colors, and not that much of the drab phase that many are going through right now. The good news is that colors are coming back, and color around you is very stimulating and particularly good for young children and older people. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. Remember that trends can change very quickly but buying things you love will never be wrong or go out of style.

As long as other elements of the room pull gray and brown together, I think it could work (pillows, art, rug). I don't think the gray sofa and the brown leather love seat works. Yes to a brown leather chair instead of the love seat.

The style of these two pieces are really different so for that reason I wouldn't purchase them together. You could use gray and brown but I think you'll need to repeat the colors so it looks intentional. Gray is still the trendy neutral of the moment. If you always loved gray then I'd go with gray but if you're choosing that color thinking it's a safe or timeless neutral you're probably going to tire of it sooner than later.

Mojomom, you have a similar layout with how the tv and fireplace are next to each other. Did you think about ever doing a sectional there? That’s also what I am working on is the layout. Not sure of a sectional or 2 couches. Are yours full couches or love seats? Beautiful room. Love the greys and brown. Is that leather chair a recliner? I like how small it is vs those huge recliners. Thanks for pics.

Ingrid, my style is more farmhouse so I like more neutral colors. However I have a lot of red from past owner. Want to tone it down a bit but perhaps could use some of that in the pillows/throws etc. here is a photo of my kitchen behind the family room.

Wondering more about still using gray but combine it with cream instead of brown. I guess I could do a little of both. Opinions?

Grey and brown can work together but it is not an easy combo. There is always going to be a fight between the warm and the cool and it takes a keen eye to make it blend.

As long as you are starting from scratch, I would decide on a color combo that is easier to handle. The rest of your room is warm - floors, wall color, fireplace. I would stay away from grey. Pale grey and cream would be easier but you would still have to be careful with the combo.

Do you plan on painting your red kitchen soon? If not, you are going to have to consider how your choices are going to work with your kitchen as well.

d_gw, thanks for your feedback. I can see what your talking about. Starting to lean towards more of a beige. Also yes, hopefully soon we will be repainting our kitchen. Would like to paint our cupboards as well, but can only do one thing at a time right now. My goal is to add more of a blue accent tone in with the neutrals.

AJW, the reason I did't use a sectional is because I prefer having the end table and lamps and the sectional would have to be too large in my room. I don't dislike sectionals, but just preferred two couches here. Usually TV watching is just the two of us -- DH's spot is the recliner and my spot is on the end of the couch closest to him.

Yes, the chair is an IMG recliner and it swivels and rocks. Previously DH had big overstuffed type recliners and a recliner was a must. This one started out as a compromise, but he loves it and says it is actually more comfortable and easier to maneuver. He's a relatively big guy too, but the smaller size isn't an issue.

BTW, I like both of the inspiration pictures you posted.
