Someone gave this to me about a year ago and I dont think it's ever been repotted. Still in the mossy stuff they put them in at the store.

Will the mother plant keep living? It bloomed about 5 months ago, and the bloom stalk came out of the very center of the plant, and I didn't know if the mother plant would continue growing.

Should I even worry about dividing this? What kind of potting medium does a Paph like?

I would not divide this plant. The new growths do not have their own roots yet and will most likely die if removed. The rule of thumb I use when dividing is to have at least 3 mature growths on each half.

I think Paphs look better in clumps so you get more than 1 flower spike. As it gets older it might start growing in 2 directions and start to die off in the middle. That is when I would divide.

Now is probably a good time to repot, before the new roots start to grow.

I agree with James. Don't divide. Repot, but I wouldn't divide at this time.

I just both the one with the baby at the show and asked the owner of the orchids green house: when I should re-potted and separate a baby. She said at least in a year and see if the baby is falling apart itself then separate it.
