Other nurseries are permitted to ship to your state per federal guidelines. They are heavily inspected for safety to a level that Ga is comfortable with. It was illegal bud wood from a novice of our caliber that sent bud wood with HLB that brought this problem to our country. Check with you local county extension agent. I live in Ohio and got limited time with the Georgia agent.

What a bummer Kelley. I also wanted few cuttings too for the same reason - practice grafting. Online sources are expensive as you also found out. Have not found anyone in the area who grows any type of citrus. I am sure they are out there. I have received a few cuttings from forum members but I feel a bit embarrassed when they do not even let me pay for postage and the hassle.

No, I am in PA so quarantine is not a problem. Never asked Lowes/HD. Most of them there do not have a clue. It somehow does not feel right to ask nursery owners. There is a very friendly nursery here and I did get a few non-citrus cuttings. Not directly from the plant but from the pile of pruned stuff. But I know the owner for 30 years and I have done a few favors for him in return.

Pip bought a bunch of entry level trees that were on inferior root stock and grafted buds from those trees onto superior rootstock. Pip was in Michigan and we both checked legality before he sent me that tree. I planted it in ground and grafted buds to a superior rootstock for container and fruit quality.

On the topic of ACP / HLB quarantine, it looks like there may be some changes going on. I heard a few months ago that Louisiana is now allowing Texas citrus nurseries to ship into Louisiana if the citrus was grown in facilities that met certain federal requirements (green houses with positive pressure ventilation, air locks, etc.). In partial confirmation of this I have seen tags from the Orange, Texas Saxon Becnel nursery at garden centers in SW Louisiana. For those that don't know Orange TX is the first exit on I-10 entering Texas from Louisiana. Saxon Becnel also has a nursery in Louisiana, just outside New Orleans.
