Perfection!

What a gorgeous creature, looks almost like one of those very full dahlias. I imagine this is one of yours, Jeri, since it's an Austin that does well for you. That is one absolutely perfect bloom.

ALAS! This is not an easy rose to grow. It's got too much Pernetiana in it, I think, to be a wonderful shrub, but I treasure it because the blooms are so perfect. Austin sells in Own Root, but don't be tempted! This is a rose that has to be budded.

That rose is flawless! OMG!

I have an own root one I think is lovely, Jeri, because of your photos. I think I got it from Heirloom. Maybe it would be better grafted but I love it. My Eugene dB china (I can't spell) is also in perfect health here on it's own roots. Who knows?

Mine grows own-root, and it's also from Heirloom. This year, I had to hit the reset button on a lot of roses, due to issues related to encroaching shade, which I addressed by giving the Callery pear another harsh haircut this year. 'Prospero' scared me a bit, because it sent forth two stout canes, but then just bloomed and branched upon that. This year, I noticed cane borer damage, and I had to cut it moderately-hard. Was the cane borer damage holding it back, or its inherent disdain for producing new canes? We'll find out this year. We sure are getting a lot of rain today and tomorrow -- nearly 48 hours of it, nonstop -- and I gave the beds a healthy feeding of Garden Tone, so I'm hoping the garden refreshes nicely. We're so behind on warming up, making me wonder how this year will turn out.

@Sheila z8a Rogue Valley OR I noticed that Rogue doesn't carry Prospero anymore. I wondered if you would be open to sending cuttings? I'm in Portland and cannot find this one available at any rose dealer in the whole country.

My Prospero is own root and too small to cut Robert. I think I got it from Heirloom. I wonder if you could call Peter Schneider at Freedom Gardens to see if he could send you one.
