Rebecca, I've only been twice. The first time the only thing I requested (because I was shy) was a coneflower from Lisa. She reminded me of it and handed it to me. It had my name on it.

There is a table set up for "spoken for" plants and another large area for free-for-alls...if I remember correctly. Honestly, I just remember Nancy having "HJ" tagged on several things...and that is how I got HJ as a nickname.

You don't have to put your name on anything.

Rebecca, no. Paula will have tickets (like stubs you get for other drawings) and then you keep the stub and they'll draw tickets. Haha, Jennifer. I'd totally forgotten that.

Rebecca, there will be several designated areas/tables. One will be for pre-arranged trades like we are doing here (just label with recipient's name/handle and plop on the table, they will pick it up). A different table/area will be the "free for all" area, anyone can take/leave plants/seeds/ephemera from there (people bring anything they'd like to contribute). There will be a door prize table (optional, bring an item, get a ticket and they will do sort of a raffle near the end and you'll get an item in return). And of course the potluck food tables.

Jennifer, Don't worry if your plants all break. It is one of those years where it is extra common for that to happen as the weather has been almost completely unfavorable. Some years are just this way.

I feel disorganized. I usually have my garden all planted by now and stuff all dug up for the SF, and this year the garden is not even close to being all planted and I haven't dug up much yet....but that is what tomorrow is for. Digging up and potting up plants for the Spring Fling is my primary task for tomorrow, and then planting the rest of the zinnias is the secondary task. I'd like to think I'll have time to do both, and it will help if the fire pagers don't go off at all. Hmmm. Maybe I'll just forget to take my fire radio and phone out to the garden so I can get everything done.

Some of my tomato plants got so tall that I just finally repotted them into bigger cups for more support and used bamboo skewers as stakes. It is sort of ridiculous looking, but the plants keep flopping over or all leaning on each other, so I did what I had to do. They were turning into a big messy mass of plants in each flat and it is easy to break one while pulling it out of the mass, so I tried to separate them all and space them further apart a lot better today. Then I watered them into their new larger cups with Alaska fish fertilizer so that I could stink up the house and all the plants. The dogs are going nuts looking for the source of the stinky smell. The worst day is when we are loading up the plants into the car (usually the night before the SF) because I'm so worried that something will get broken. If it does, it does. What can we do? We just handle the plants the best we can and hope the weather doesn't make more of a mess of things than it already has. At this point the flats (silver aluminum rectangular pans) aren't even sturdy enough to hold weight of the larger tomato plants in large styrofoam cups and the pans buckle in the middle when I try to pick them up and carry them, so I doubled the silver pans today and hope that will hold the weight. I keep telling the plants they only have to hang in there for a couple more days.

The fun thing about digging up plants for the Spring Fling is that once I start doing that, I usually discover plants I didn't even realize were there yet.

Can't remember who goaded me into growing convolvulus. Dawn (duh) and someone else. So I did. Have quite a few if anyone's interested.

I don't have any yet lol Nancy. But someone does and yes the more the merrier I have several new flower beds to fill.

For those of you who have said you want ornamental cotton, I'm bringing it and there's plenty for everyone I think. Most of what has survived the weather is a really pretty Red Foliated Cotton.

I'm also bringing 3 or 4 flats of tomato plants and y'all will just have to dig through them to find what you want because I don't think I'll have time to compile a list of all the varieties between now and the SF. Some are big huge monsters that I started in February and others are smaller and were started in March just to bring to the Spring Fling. All have had some wind damage (looks similar to sunscald) from several days of 40+ mph winds but are recovering. Some might look a little naked because I broke off the worst-damaged leaves to encourage faster recovery.

I will have a coral honeysuckle (variety "Pink Lemonade") for Jennifer per an earlier request and 3 tomato plants set aside for Bruce per an earlier request made weeks ago. (Everything but the Cherokee Carbon, Bruce.) I'll be bringing extra coral honeysuckle plants for those who want them.

After I go out into the garden and dig up what I find today, I'll try to post a list of what else I'm bringing. Mostly it will be reseeding annual flowers and herbs. As a side note, I don't know if it is this year's wacky weather or my excellent deep mulch but there's not nearly as many reseeding volunteer plants as usual in the garden. I don't think I'll have any trouble finding stuff to bring though because the ones that did reseed did so in great abundance. I have enough Laura Bush petunias in the garden to give some to every resident of Oklahoma and all the surrounding states. I think there's a lot of little datura seedlings out there, and some of them are in the area where I grew a double purple datura, so there's a possibility that some of the datura seedlings may produce purple flowers instead of just the usual white ones. I'm hoping that when I dig the datura seedlings, I can tell from the stems if some of them are the purple ones so I can dig and pot up both colors without having to guess which ones are which color.

No worries on the CC, Dawn! I'm already going to plant a few more than I originally planned, but it shouldn't be too bad. Maybe!

I need to pot up daylilies and finish tagging a few items. Oh, and figure out a couple of door prizes!

A few of the LB petunias sound interesting. I'm sure Janet would love it if I start growing more flowers!

So I see I have a million Tansy volunteers if any one is interested. I also have some tall yellow primroses. They won't be tall this year, they're biennial. They aren't showy. And sculpit/strodollo. I will see if I can dig some of those up.

Absolutely, Kim. I try to get folks to understand that the givers love takers. Otherwise, I swear, I will throw them in the compost heap or throw them in a bonfire. Because I cannot and WILL not try to grow them all myself. It's my own fault because I couldn't murder the little tiny seedlings, but instead had to give them their own little pot. And so ended up with at least 3 times more plants than I have room for.

My plants are ready, and I'm baking cookies like crazy tonight. I can't make decisions today. Shorts or capris? Cute shoes or outside shoes? SPF 15 or 50? I may bring a couple of purchased plants, as I bought replacements for a few things, and then mine decided to live. Hope that's OK.

Do y'all know what my problem is? I try to get in a full day of gardening every day and then, after I am too tired to see straight, I start potting up plants to take and then after dinner I come here and read this thread and promptly forget who needs what because my brain is too tired to think, but here's what I am bringing:

Three flats of tomato plants. Some might be oversized and at the point of blooming, but all will do well once transplanted---you can trench plant them or just plant them deeply. There are three plants set aside for Bruce (Vorlon, Spudakee Purple and Spudatula....at least that is what my memory says he wants that I have). Bruce, they'll be on the pre-arranged table and are in a big Tidy Cat litter bucket because it is tall enough to hold them without them falling over. There might be a couple of varieties that weren't even on my grow list because I might have started a couple of extra varieties that, technically speaking, I wasn't planning on growing. Surely y'all know how that sort of thing happens.

Ornamental cotton plants. There's about 8 or 10 of them and most are Red-Foliated White but a couple are Earlene's Green. None of them have people's names on them, and it is too late now because they are loaded up in the car.

Pink evening primroses for Lisa. They don't have your name on them yet, Lisa, but they will tomorrow. I made a tag and forgot to stick it in the pot before Tim got the car all loaded up. There's extra pink evening primroses for anyone as foolish as Lisa and I and who likes to plant thuggish plants.

Catnip. Because cats love it and because Pumpkin made me promise to pot up something for the other cats of the world.

Angel's Trumpets (datura). Because people and sphinx moths love it.

Four O'clocks. Because every garden needs night bloomers for the moths.

Verbena bonariensis. For the butterflies and butterfly lovers.

Laura Bush petunias. Because I love sharing the only petunias I've ever found that laugh at the July and August heat. I potted up a lot. They are in six packs. If you don't want a whole six pack, you can cut them into halves or thirds.

Coral honeysuckle. This is Lonicera sempervirens. The specific variety I have is called "Pink Lemonade" and, to me, it looks identical to Goldflame if you're familiar with it. This is a hummingbird magnet. Our hummingbirds fight over the flowers very early in the season when there's not many blooms yet. Later on, it blooms so heavily that they do not have to fight. The larger one is for Jennifer who asked if I would bring it weeks ago. The others are first-come, first-serve. I think there's 8 of them.

Chamomile. Because it is a great tea plant, a great re-seeder and one of the few herbs that sprouted in the cold April weather and grew well. I'm still waiting on most of the other herbs to show up. I think they will now that we are warmer.

The things I noticed a lot of these last couple of days that I did not pot up to bring y'all? Johnson grass, lamb's quarters, crab grass, henbit (awfully late for it to start showing up now), Arizona moonflowers (NOT desirable because they are garden thugs) and bindweed. Oh, and lots of fire ants. I did my best to avoid potting up any weeds or fire ants.

Please don't ask me to go back out and label things with your names now. The car is heavily loaded and it would be a plant-breaking disaster to reach in there and try to pull things out, set them aside and label them for specific people. Every year on the night before the SF, I just hold my breath and cross my fingers and hope all the plants will fit into the car. This year it was close (as it always is) but unless something goes horribly wrong, we're even going to have room to put the door prizes and food, so I won't have to hold the food on my lap and have the door prizes sitting at my feet for the drive to Norman. That might be a first!

Tim and I are looking forward to see all of you tomorrow.

I have what I was told is lily of the valley. Anyone interested? I potted up a couple just in case I had some takers.

And no one took me up on the vinca vine. I'm sure someone out there really wants some. I hear it grows great planted with lemon balm.

I came back to add:

Devil's Claw -- there's only two because that's all that have sprouted so far this year. Usually there's more but it has been cool. I grow them for the flowers and the seed pods, which look like gigantic mosquitoes. They are considered medicinal.

Houzz needs a gigantic laugh emoticon.... vinca and lemon balm! lol A pair for the ages!

Rebecca, you're so funny. Personally, I'm wearing cute shoes and garden shoes! (Adidas that were once cute but now are dirty) I tend to get cold, so I'll not wear shorts. BUT, oddly I'm sensitive to the sun, so I'll use a higher SPF.

We will bring a few extra boxes for people to tote stuff home.

Well, poop. I have to take a catnip because Pumpkin wants Finbar to have it. Although we have a ton of it coming up in the yard area in front of the shop. BUT, I'll do it for Pumpkin and Finbar.

So...here's the deal at my house. I only had a couple of hours tonight to get stuff ready. the tomatillos are in a jacked up deal. BUT they actually look healthy. SO, Sorie, Megan, and Andria, I will bring them for you. You will need to dig a deep hole or trench them. Most of the Dr. Wyche's broke (except the 3 that I'm keeping), so there are the Purple variety.

And the only other thing I got dug up was 3 coneflowers in varying stages. Bruce they are yours if you want them.

I'm sorry I didn't get the tomatoes ready. However, it looks like there will be plenty of tomatoes for everyone. I'll get mine ready for the community garden instead.

Our week has been so busy.

Food: smoked turkey, "chinese" coleslaw, and a "deviled egg" salad. Half of my eggs didn't peel easy, so I will make a salad with instead of deviled eggs.

Same here, Nancy. We have the most lush dandelion patch on the block. (Translation: we're both lazy and fight over who mows, which results in a horribly overgrown yard.) And in one of my facebook groups, someone is actually looking for dandelion seeds.
