Bob, why should the mix not be reused? When I plant up, often the 5-1-1 is still in great shape after a year. So I have mixed new mix with old. Seems crazy to throw it away.

My old citrus dirt gets down graded to pepper plant soil. Works wonders.

I use peat based medium for all my pots. It is dumped in the compost pile where it gets recycled and rejuvenated and ends up in my garden.

Spring make you forget about winter again, just a small part.

I don't reuse old growing medium EXCEPT with pineapples. Pineapples will grow in absolutely anything and grow well. I've been doing it for years, with zero problems.
