Can you try to propagate a few cuttings? That way you’re sure to have the exact same variety. That’s what I’m doing with a few to make sure I have the exact same type.

I think i may try to take some cuttings. I haven't looked into what is involed, has anyone done this easily ? It would be my first time doing it so i don't mind but any tips?

Babs, i wouldn't mind doing that normally but my nursey labels their azaleas as "white" or "pink". Their camellias don't have names either, "once they bloom you can see them" i was told :) haha. I haven't found a great nursery yet.

But to my original thought process, are there different "coral bells" or is that the name of a specific azalea? I don't want it to end up like me buying my Formosa. I was told they are all purple unless it says "George tabor" or something else.. well i have a mixture of George tabors, white and purple. It actually looks great, but not what i had thought.

I wonder if you could get advice locally about the cuttings? They’re easy here, but only during certain times of the year I would imagine there are different tips and tricks in different climates. One of the most successful ways for me is “layering.” Basically nick the azalea, add rooting hormone (I use powder), then either bend it down to the ground or a little pot and find a way to affix it there. It will end up rooting while it’s also getting help to grow from the mother plant. Then once it roots you cut it off and there you go!

You can probably find better explanations with videos if you google it or look it up on YouTube. :-)

They look like Coral Bells to me, but I’m not very good at identifying so I don’t know if my opinion is worth much. Hopefully a pro like Gardengal will weigh in. Here, Coral Bells seems to be smaller, but it could just be that people put them in more shade here.

Mine aren’t blooming anymore and have a bunch of bright green new growth now. Mine look to be much younger than yours though. Here’s mine now:

Whatever they are, yours look extremely healthy and robust. l would definitely try to take cuttings. Since the mother plants are so healthy, any rooted cuttings have a good likelihood of being the same. And that way you are sure to have the exact same azaleas.
