Doesnt hurt the worms. What you do is you keep a colony and gather the leavings as fertilizer

I was imagining a blender was involved lol...sorry, i just use miracle grow. Ive never read up on anything else. My Hoyas do get bird poopie on them and I'm sure they benefit from that.

I'm thinking about trying it. No blenders, just worms eating my salad scraps and coffee grounds. Does your husband have a system where he drains off the "worm juice" from the soil so it doesn't get too moist? I have a gardener friend who makes her own fertilizer and fertilizer tea bags out of the worm juice. She uses it in her garden. I was wondering if it would be good for Hoyas. I may have to experiment.

He uses cricket food, "rested" tap water or rainwater, and salad/fruit scraps. He takes the top layer of soil off as it starts to get muddy/moist, and does this about every 8 weeks or so. Early last month when my Hoyas needed to be watered, I top-layered some of them with the old worm soil and fertilized/watered as usual.
