Bringing Life Into Sago Palms - Dying

I have a buddy of mine that dug up his Sago palms when the east coast got hit with all the snow. He did not put them in buckets like I would have logically thought. Instead he watered them in the garage with the roots exposed. The pictures are the condition they are in now. If I actually take over and try to save these beautiful plants do they even stand a chance at this point?

Where are you? How cold was the garage?

Believe it or not, I would expect them to come back.

Was in the lower part of the Carolinas. They will come back being out of the dirt like that? Wow

It looks fine. The apex looks great. Make sure you don't see any rot on the roots and seal up any wounds, and it should be fine. If you push on it real good and everything feels firm, there is nothing wrong with the stem. A stem can handle about 10-12 f.

I would plant them in some good soil, where the drainage is good, and give them a chance.
