Last October, I ordered a couple of gallon-size Asclepias syriaca plants from Rarefind nursery. They seemed dormant, so I just assumed they were alive. Anyway, I planted them within a few days. I live in N. Georgia, Zone 8A.

Lately I've been checking the plants, but still no signs of life. So, I called up Rarefind. The woman told me that where they're located (in NJ), the syriacas don't usually come up until Memorial Day. I said that since I'm in the South, shouldn't they come up sooner? She said it depends on the weather.

Anyway, is it really true that you have to wait until the end of May for these things to come up, or was she just pulling my leg?
