Oh yes to outdoors growing. My wife may claim that I grow too many. She of course is always correct.

The red one shown above is an Ipomoea nil, cultivar name 'Berry Ice'. I grew it the better part of a decade ago and will try it again. It does look like Xiong's Morning Glory, doesn't it?

The date on your Flickr photos? If that's the case, I'd be beyond thrilled to see your new stuff. Berry Ice is so pretty. I have a few that look red-vined as seedlings, but they eventually turn green. I've been scouring the older entries in the Dave's Garden forums this week and am feeling sad about how many major contributors have disappeared. More people need to know about these plants. People hear "morning glory" and can't think beyond purpurea or indica or other invasive species. =( I can't convince anyone locally that the nils won't grow 45 ft tall and pull their house down.

Do you think that this is cool enough to try to save? I don't know what it thinks it's doing, but producing vines isn't on its list.

Woah!! Incredible. What's going on with the spoke edges? Very interesting.

I am not certain what is causing the yellow brown ray tips. I grow the plants indoors, and the leaves do not look stressed. The color may be due to cooler temperature since the sun has been hidden by the rain clouds. The parents did not show this color pattern.

I think deformed is probably the best term

Merrell, the leaves don't look so bad. Sometimes the leaves form different shapes when indoors because they are trying to orient the top surface towards a light source. Another reason could be mite infestation. Do you know mites when you see them?

Yes, my mother has an ongoing war against mites on her roses, so I've seen them a few times

I'm mostly worried about the deformed leaves because most of the other leaves are so healthy. But it's really nice to hear that they might just be adjusting :) (pics are of the older, healthy leaves vs the new ones)

A few of the leaves went completely limp!! and even one of my little twining vines feels really weak and looks like he can't even hold his own head up. I'm so worried :((
