EASY SPIRIT

Big 5 inch flowers with a good strong face cream fragrance. I guess the color is a pale blush in cool overcast weather? I was expecting white flowers from the marketing copy. Definitely not your average Knock Out family member. I like FRANCIS MEILLAND or FALLING IN LOVE better due to flower form, but if EASY SPIRIT really is as super disease resistant as advertised & combined with that great fragrance, it sure is a contender.

Thank you for sharing photos of this ! They have it locally and I was thinking it may be next on my list . Well these pics just propelled that ! I actually am not a fan of crisp white ( I have one and that's enough for me ) so this is perfect

I’ve seen Easy Spirit several times at nurseries and at a public garden. I agree it’s very impressive, but never got any scent at all out of it. Agree the flowers are especially big for a floribunda, and there is a bit of an apricot pink tint to it.

I would also choose Francis Meilland over ES, it is one of the most impressive HTs I’ve ever seen, and also very fragrant.

    At a NorCal rose garden:

    At a Texas rose garden:

Then again, one is a very tall HT, the other a medium height Floribunda, so depends on the situation.

Ah .... Easy Does It's daughter.

Interesting dilemma regarding the apostrophe in this "It's".

OMG Ben you're killing me with that ARCTIC BLUE!!!! I have to order that next season!!!

Ditto what Beth said about Arctic Blue. Love the look of that one!

Oh glad to see regans will have it next year! I'm still tempted to get them from Spring Hill . As long as they don't don't disappear then I guess I can wait lol

Celestial Night looks tempting! Grande Dame and Ebb Tide as parents... that was a smart cross!

Stunning photos romogen. I just ordered two from Edmund's. I hope mine are as gorgeous. Just love the shell pink color.

Romogen, this is my second time really looking at your thread and photos--and the mystery is solved for me! I couldn't remember where I'd seen photos of Celestial Night, and I have become obsessed with this rose. The annoying thing is that Spring Hill can't ship to Idaho. So, I'll have to wait to find CN somewhere else. Spring Hill and Edmond's can't ship to many Western states. Other sellers can only ship some of their roses here. That's very frustrating and a business killer for the sellers. If any of you decide to grow Celestial Night, please let us know how this rose does for you. Diane

Diane since Regans will have it next season, will they ship bare roots to Idaho? It is very tempting. You and I both love those dark purple-y red colors.

Cori Ann, I noticed that about Regan's. They begin taking orders for next year in July. Then there''s Summer Romance, which I'd like to grow, too. And then it will be on to the next big thing which will appear before I've acquired these two roses. I still want Chrysler Imperial, too. It never ends. Thanks for thinking of me. Diane

Romogen, How many roses are you up to and how large a place do you have for all of your many roses?

    > 300 distinct varieties

    > 500 plants total

.3 acres cultivated, 11 acres total

    3 hours = hand watering

Lily- Edmund's has it right now and they have free shipping on $80 with the code Showers18. I think it ends tomorrow. They're $18.25 each. I haven't ordered from them before and haven't received my roses from them yet. Here's hoping they're good quality.

Romogen, 3 hours hand watering !! Good heavens

    That is dedication

That’s if I skip a couple of days and water the whole lot of them at once. If I break it up into thirds and rotate watering each section on separate days, it’s about an hour a day. I will install automated drip irrigation eventually, but access to water is what’s limiting my garden’s size. It’s no longer fun if I overextend myself, and I can’t imagine cultivating 11 acres without a team of gardeners on staff.
