I have no experience growing peas in containers, but all those look leggy and you need to increase the amount of sun they're getting (but don't just shove them in direct sun all day - harden them gradually). Sweet peas are generally tall climbers when healthy, 6' or more. Green peas can be either dwarf (2' to 3' high) or tall (4' to 6'). If you can tell us the varieties you have the height can be looked up if the packet doesn't say. You also used the word prune...I've never heard of peas and prune in the same sentence before (that is, don't prune peas!)

I stand corrected on pruning sweet peas, though in my experience the plants are quite vigorous and branch freely on their own as they climb up.

Yes, leggy is the vernacular for etiolated ie thin, weak and stretched due to lack of light.

Sounds like Florida :) They'll do ok in a 12 inch container or bigger. Nothing beats in ground though. Mine are finishing up (edible peas) and starting to yellow as we soar into the high 90's F. You can plant them again as it cools off in November. When we sold potted peas at the nursery there were 4 plants in a pot. Green peas only last a month in my experience.
