Bosch versus Kitchenaid

I am looking to buy a complete package - fridge, slide in range, microwave and dishwasher. Any opinions of each line regarding service? My contractor is trying to talk me out of Bosch as one of his clients just bought appliances and is have a lot of service issues. Bosch has some really good rebates now.

One other issue - I need a counter depth refrigerator. I have 2 kids and we drink a lot of water. Currently I do not have a water dispenser so I was excited about purchasing a fridge with one. Problem is Bosch does not make a counter depth fridge with water dispenser. I hate Britta pitchers - they break and no one in my household fills them up but that's another issue! Those who have water dispensers on the fridge, do you use them often? Those without, what do you do if your household drinks a lot of water?

I've never had Bosch... I was going to buy one of their dishwashers, but it wasn't big enough for my plates and our family. (We are a family of 7, our kids are ages 16-20 and all still live at home)
I've had a lot of KA appliances over the years, even had a full KA kitchen before. I currently have a mixture of appliances, but I've honestly been pleased with KA and their customer service has always been excellent in our opinion. My counter depth fridge is a KA (with the water/ice dispenser in front) and it won't die. LOL! We bought it about a dozen years ago at a sears outlet store. We used to use the water dispenser like crazy... the filters are kind of expensive and that started getting old... but, we go through them much faster than average due to the size of our family. Plus we've always been a homeschooling family, that means people are home every day, almost all day... it puts more wear and tear on everything... LOL!
We don't use it as much for filling water glasses anymore because hubby installed a whole house filter last year, so now we can finally drink water from the tap again. We are now saving money on filters so that's nice.
We want to get a subzero fridge... for the looks, and I'm tired of having water in the door now that we have the whole house filter... but this KA won't die. LOL! We will wait until we have both the money and find a great deal on a subzero... we aren't looking hard right now.
Ps, I was very thankful for the filtered water through the door before we had whole house filtration. We live in Indianapolis and the water here is terrible tasting without really great filtration!

Perhaps you could Google "Bosch garden web reviews." Overall the reviews I see here for Bosch are excellent- KA does not fair badly- but not as well as Bosch. I have Siemens products myself and am very happy with them, but not Bosch specifically.

When we remodeled I got a complete package (ref, warming drawer, oven, dw all from Jenn-Air; cooktop and drawer MW were different brands.) I hadn't found GardenWeb yet (now Houzz) so I made some mistakes I would avoid today. Going all one brand appliance is one of them. (I wanted the handles to match and was lured by the rebate.) The thing is, no one brand makes all things really well.

Since the remodel (~9 years ago) I have swapped out the J-A dw for a Bosch 500. I never liked the J-A dw and much prefer the Bosch. Sizing is a bit different and has taken some getting used to.

Prior to the remodel I had a KitchenAid dw that was nothing but trouble. I had purchased a new one that stopped working the day before Thanksgiving when I was hosting about 20 people. Ugh. It took multiple service calls and multiple pleading phone calls to finally declare it lemon and get it replaced. (There was an issue in their parts system and they kept sending the wrong control board - overnight shipping - despite the service guy telling them what to order. 4+ times he showed up to install the part only to find it was the wrong one.)

Now about water in refrigerators: I deliberately chose a fridge without because I like smooth doors and I don't like that so many of them are slow to fill a glass, and the dispenser takes up room inside the fridge or freezer. My J-A ref (just OK) has a water dispenser inside the unit but it's probably only been used a few times. (You have to have the door open to use it.) Instead I have a stand alone water cooler (the kind that holds the giant water jugs) in a pantry cabinet. I like this much better - fills a glass nice and fast. I don't even use ice because it's plenty cold.

"Currently I do not have a water dispenser so I was excited about purchasing a fridge with one."

Just remember, they're probably the number one source of refrigerator problems - I know of several people who've had everything from minor breakage to major leakage from them. I specifically did not want one, and am happy with my KA fridge without one. I keep several pitchers in the fridge, and make liberal use of ice cubes.

I am going with a split between Bosch and Kitchenaid - Bosch DW, induction top and side opening wall oven. I don't know why your contractor is steering you away from Bosch as they have excellent review - my current Bosch DW is from 2005 and I'm only replacing it because with the rebate, it makes economic sense to add it to the package.

I decided against the Bosch refrigerator as I am going with the KA Counterdepth model that is 72" high - it has slightly more cubic feet because of the increased height so why not since it will fit in the space.

For the specific appliances I am getting, I liked the Bosch - after much research. If I were going with something else, my choices might have been different. KA is also an excellent brand in terms of reviews.
