The temperatures took a dive shortly after this flower opened. The temps have been between the low 40s and upper 50s day and night, and it has been mostly cloudy. This single flower has persisted for 3 straight days without fading. This is far and away the longest I have ever had an iris blossom remain open! Crazy weather.

Love that color. For the first time in years we haven't hit the 80s right when beardeds open. They are doing great in this low 70s weather.

I never thought to pot my irises. Anything special you do to winterize?

I don't do anything special for winter treatment. I can tell you I haven't lost a single rhizome to rot since I started planting in containers.

I have been very tempted to pot my dwarf iris, they just seem to get lost in the garden. I tend to either overwater, or underwater potted plants.

Love the dark color of that one, and reblooms? A real winner! Most of the dwarf ones here got hit by some hard frosts so I did not get blooms, or very deformed ones. My iris were late to start because of cooler temps, then heat hit, they all rushed into bloom, and now they are almost all finished. They just went too fast.

I have a small SDB blooming now called What Again. It didn't bloom this spring.

The bearded irises all stay outside over winter.
