Vanilla Sticks is one of the older Valley's and already in TC for a long time, it was not expensive and came with a lot of eyes already.

So nice collection of Valley's! You are lucky! I try to get all possible Valley's, but have only several. They are not in pots and not ready for portret photo, but soon.

What a fantastic collection. I have one--Lemon Squash which I got last year.

I have them all in one place now...the last remaining piece of gras will have to go for the new order...need to get some nice pots for them next year or maybe plant them, not sure yet...

I've seen some in the Naylor catalogue. You should get Valley's Paparazzi if you can, it is big and beautiful!

I remember the picture you shared of that tiny hosta :-) It looks very good now. Was it two years ago that you bought it? I should try to get it, too.

I don't have any Valley's..your pic of "all in one place now" reminds me of a pic of my back sidewalk..bought 1 more hosta..Regal Splendor..see it right above Krossa Regal at the bottom..I didn't have one..it's the closest thing I have to a Valley's Paparazzi..

newhostalady, to have one favourite with hosta is nearly impossible. But with Valley*s...at the moment I'm fascinated by the ones in the background...and torn between Paparazzi and Wairere...

One thing I can say about the big ones is that I'm surprised by their growth for their first spring in my garden. Not by the quantity of pips but by size of those pips. Every day I look at them they seem different...But it's Wairere which I'm really interested in, with Mikawa-No-Yuki as a parent the leaves should get very long and when I got it last year the stems had been long too.

But Paparazzi is also getting better from day to day...

If you ask Dave it is White Suits :-)

But in four weeks it might be different :-)

Regal Splendor is one of my favourites just behind Blue Angel and Krossa Regal. Those upright hosta are so elegant and I hope my cat will not chew at RS this year. I like those grey pots on the left, are they stone or something easier to transport? What are you going to plant in them?

I remember that you liked Regal Splendor..everyone seems to like it..and why not?..it's got beautiful color..and upright stems - my favorite..those pots are concrete..they're thick and hold very little soil..our winters are so cold I don't think a permanent plant would survive..so I use them for annuals..

you can see 2 of them in this pic from last summer..I brought that cordyline in and still have it..

I've got my eye on Paparazzi, Karin's is magnificent. I can hardly wait until all the stuff that I brought inside can go out and stay outside. Nothing worse than dragging them in and out. In my area, it can be cold at night for another 2-3 weeks so I can't hurry and take them out since I have to remember to bring them back in on cold nights.

Karin, I got so excited when I opened your post! I think your arsenal of Valley hostas has influenced more than a couple of us to seek out our own - I will definitely be looking for one or two!

Pips are finally appearing in my garden albeit slowwwwy. We had temperature of 27C today! That ought to get things popping around here, lol. 'Bout time, eh?

did any of these come from valleys? Ive contacted them a few times and they always tell me they dont sell any plants themselves.

I've been looking up a few pots like yours and found :-) one that I will order someday for my Frisian Pride and with the pot in pot method it might be ok also in winter. This month I already spent my decoration money on a small Buddha which is soon to come for the mini bed.

get that Paparazzi :-) every time I look at it it is more beautiful. 2-3 weeks seems a long time still to wait :-( It had been sunny but really cold yesterday and I had to but on warm socks in my garden slippers...

I rearranged the Valleys bed yesterday and took out Amalia and One Last Dance to live in pots again. Doing this I noticed a lot of hedge roots in Fortunei Aureomarginata and so it also changed it's place and I put stone plates under the Valley pots and gave the big ones identical looking pots.

My arsenal of Valleys will soon be bigger. I get a few more that I ordered in spring last year and had to wait so long now and some I ordered from Jeroen's new list. Worse than being a hostaholic not possible? Yes, being a Valley's hostaholic, that's expensive on top...and that last piece of lawn will have to go for them...and I will sit on the path sipping coffee in summer, but at my time of day nobody wants to pass through, only birds and cats...3 days to work still until I have holidays and the weather seems to improve so I'm really looking forward to those three weeks on my hosta island :-)

which valleys do you mean? I got some easily available ones (TC) from dealers in the Netherlands (Fransen works together with Naylors) and others like Wairere, Blue Nuke, White Suits are OS from the hybridizers own plants. He is selling a very limited amount every year and normally they are all gone as soon as his list is out. I'm happy to get that list at all, it was only possible because another friend helped.

Karin..one nice thing about today's technology - you can find anything you're looking for!..when you get your pot someday post a pic..I think your climate is a little milder than mine..a pot in a pot could work..

Technology is a fascinating thing...my little town is in the middle of Germany, but it had been near the former border until 1989 and that was like living deep in the woods :-( It was not in the eastern part but only 10 miles away was a totally different way of life. So we had little access to 'civilization'. That makes me gratefull for having access to the whole wide world now :-)
