Everything feels a little tight, how often will you be using the tub? That seems to be taking up the most space.

Not often, but it’s definitely something I want. The designer said we have space for a 72” tub, which I don’t necessarily even want it that big. What’s your recommendation for the layout? We also are going to have windows and don’t have to worry about neighbors

Do you put makeup on in the bathroom now? Your habits are unlikely to change.

Personally, I would get more use out of storage for towels and linens.

Thanks Lindsey. Right now we live in Manhattan so I put my makeup on in my bathroom. Our apartment is 1200 sq feet and we’re leaving the city and moving to a 4000sq foot house. Thinking might be nice to put makeup on in a vanity in dressing room, we will have a large walk in closet

Yes, I like the dressing room idea. If you currently put on makeup in your bedroom, it will take a deliberate effort to change your habit. Imagine you leave the bathroom after your shower, get dressed, SHOOT! forgot my makeup is in the bathroom! Head back to the bathroom but GRRR! spouse is in the shower and it's all steamy in there.

Where do you store your towels in your bathroom? What’s a good way to do that in our bathroom? We are obviously limited in space in our current manhattan apartment so can’t compare

I had a built in linen closet in our last house and in this house the master bath needs a reno. Currently there is no linen closet so it's all stacked on those RTA pine shelves. Growing up we had a linen closet in the bathroom but now my mom's home has it in the hall and it's much less convenient.

Can you put the sinks together on the same wall and put a linen closet next to the toilet room? Or use the corner as a linen closet with doors. It isn't as convenient to have a corner closet but you'll be able to store a lot there: extra shampoo and soap, TP, towels, sheets. I don't know where you were planning to store all that in this plan...

Lindsay- exactly, we were reviewing this with the designer and they didn’t mention it either. I want more storage in the bathroom, not just under the sink. I want easy to grab towels, and keep things looking organized- not just thrown on a hook. My parents also had a closet.

Tell the designer. You might have to give up something somewhere else but storage in the bathroom is paramount imo.

Can also do the sleeves above a tub which is nice

Yes to the vanity. It’s a must have for me.
