Formal living room?

Moving into a house an need suggestions. Colonial house. Formal living room on left. Dining room on right. Den to the right of the dining room....Kitchen in back of house-closest to formal living room. Would you change the order of the rooms and make the den on the left side where the current formal living room is? Feeling like it may flow better. Is the formal living room traditionally the first room you see?

Is the living room larger than the den and would the living room suit your family better as an "every day" room?
If yes, I say go for it.
Why squeeze into a smaller room and leave a large room in your home mostly unused?

We reversed our living room and dining rooms. We wanted a large dining room and rarely use the living room.
We love it.

I agree with Judy M. It's your house! It needs to fit your needs, and if this arrangement works better for you then you should do it!
