Need help Modernizing a split bungalow
Hello I have a traditional split bungalowhouse with no “ face” that I wish was a bit more modern with a bit more curb appeal. I think the roofline is the issue. Does anyone know how much it would cost to change the roofline/ add a porch to improve the look?
Any suggestions on how to make it look better?

8 years agoA Lot! Instead, update the garage door for a more MCM look, as well as replacing the lights by the front door and garage, along with the yard light, add some cool house numbers. Landscape and remove the bush on the right. I can't tell but if that bare-branch tree grows much more, it will hide part of the house. Others can help with paint color and new front door (possibly since I can't see it from this distance).

Changing a roof line is very expensive, and not necessary in your case.
I like awm03's color combinations above. I'd also add some MCM landscaping. Square and rectangular planting beds (not curved). Lots of repetition of the same plants in an area, rather than mixing. Grasses, spiny architectural looking shrubs.

instead, concentrate on using money for the front. do a search online for modernizing split level homes from the 60's and 70's. keep in mind landscaping plays a secondary role. you should enlist the help of a landscape designer.
