Areca Palm not thriving

Hello,

Are the orange stem discolouration and black dots normal or at least reversible? Photos attached.

I try not to place the palm in direct sunlight, humidity is now between 45-48% in the home (was around 35% until March).

I have been slacking with watering because the plant is heavy to lift out of the decorative pot to allow the excess water to drain out before placing it back into the pot with drainage rocks at the bottom.

Without lifting, the water collects above the rocks, risking root rot. Maybe I pour too much, so I am trialling two slow release ceramic cones in the soil. Can I use them all the time or do I still need to properly water the plant?

I haven't misted the leaves for a while either, because again, the palm is heavy to lift and I don't want water on the TV or the wooden floor.

Any easy care tips to help revive this plant will be much appreciated! I really want to start taking better care of it and see new healthy branches (so far new branches crispen up and can be pulled out from the soil).
