Based on your depiction presumably the browning of entire leaves is weather related. The holes are an unrelated condition called prunus shot hole.

Agree with Embo. Browned leaves are from the cold, windy wintry weather -- especially in January (these are usually leaves that got winter sun -- so mostly on the South side).

Holes are shot hole disease, also known as Coryneum blight. Some years are worse than others. Generally Schip laurels are less vulnerable than other laurels. It is usually not anything to worry too much about unless it gets worse and worse.
