Siberians come from rhizomes. Hopefully someone familar with growing them will help you out. My thoughts iris from a big box store are not the best way to start to grow them. They are usually dried out and mismarked. To get a good plant to start with order from a reliable source. One that will send you good healthy plants to start with..

Siberians should be putting up new leaves by now. I grew many in Dutchess county NY (hop skip and jump from Mass) for years and they would all be up and possibly showing the first indications of blooms by now.

See if there is a local chapter of the American Iris Society in your area. Most regional groups have sales throughout the year. You will not find healthier plants and in such a large selection anywhere else than at these club sales. You will also have the advantage of knowing that all of the varieties they sell will grow well in your area.
