Other than being grown under greenhouse conditions and forced into bloom at an early age, there is nothing different about your "house" azalea and any other kind of evergreen azalea. There is not a selection of foo-foo azaleas grown specifically for indoors :-) And because it is a kind of plant that is normally grown outdoors - in a suitable climate - it will not make a great long term houseplant, much like the inbloom gift hydrangeas one sees in stores for Valentines Day and other holidays. They are intended to be temporary indoor color and once out of bloom, recycled into the garden.....or the garbage can, depending on location.

You can attempt to keep it alive and healthy for as long as possible but we are talking about months at best, not years. And it is highly unlikely it will rebloom. Unless you have a greenhouse or plant conservatory, you cannot provide the conditions indoors to keep the plant happy and healthy long term. Temperatures are too uniform (and too high usually), it is too dry and with insufficient light.

In a suitable climate, these flowering gift plants can be transitioned outside....where they belong. But I doubt many evergreen azaleas will survive winter in MI so just enjoy your plant as long as you can. And when the time comes - and it will - say goodbye :-)

You can try planting it in a large pot with well-draining soil (not regular potting soil.) Put it out in the shade and slowly give it some morning sun. Come fall you can move it to a bright window in a cold garage or shed that stays within a few degrees of freezing. This may or may not work, but it isn't something that can survive as a house plant and as GG48 mentioned it most likely isn't hardy enough for a MI winter.
