Pine is very soft, but you know that already. If you are ok with how your pine floors look after living with them, then go for it.

I've got reclaimed pine flooring throughout my home. The kitchen, master bath, powder room and mud room all have pine. I bought the house. I didn't design it. I don't think it's a good idea in an area where there is potential wet surfaces. I can't see the dirt, drips and spills. That's a bad thing. My dogs and the previous owner's dogs have done a number on them, too.

Lot of immediate maintenance when spill occur. And dents and dinks when pans and other objects are drooped. Wear and traffic patterns become obvious over extended periods.

Otherwise, go for it. Lots of character that's not present or possible with other woods.

But you gotta like character...!
