This is another hindsight revelation. Do not put hanging ferns over your hosta. In the spring, around here, everyone and their dog has hanging ferns for sale from the big box stores to the grocery stores and they are usually pretty cheap.

I read a couple of years back that they often are infected with nematodes. That would explain how I got nematodes in one of my potted hosta, when it probably didn't come with them.

The thread about nematodes reminded me.
