I'd lean towards 'Marjorie'. Coloring on this is described as "peachy pink" or "coppery pink" (so maybe a reference to the "orange" description?), whereas 'Broughton Star' is usually much a deeper pink.

This is too early for viticella hybrids to be blooming in zone 8 Wa.

By about 2-3 months!!

Marjorie blooms late April, May and June in the British Isles. Montanas coincide with the Apple blossom here. They follow on from armandii, alpina and macropetala and long before viticella.I imagine it's similar in z8 WA. They are probably later in z6 Ontario but I doubt they're 'late season'.

Montanas are early bloomers here in the PNW. With the popular selections, it is C. armandii that blooms first (Feb/March), then the montanas and other atragene species (April/May). There can be some overlap with the LFH's, although they typically start late May/June. Viticellas and their hybrids (and other group 3's) won't be in bloom here until late July at the earliest.

One of my favorite sources for clematis info is Clematis on the Web. It is British, but for those of us in the states, it isn’t difficult to guesstimate what differences there would be to things like bloom time based on exactly where we are compared to the UK. I have found that the info there is reliable with the occasional exception of flower color since certain blues don’t photograph well.

Here is the search page where you can type in any aspect that interests you such as a name or a particular vine length, and anything that is less important, just leave blank. The only quirk I have found is that it doesn’t like spaces, so with multi word names, only type in one word.
