I paid a professional to stain our floors in our new house. He used a water based stain all over which apparently was not applied correctly. He insisted on doing them before the sheetrock started and due to the delay of the sheetrock I let him. When he started the piles of sheetrock were already in the house. He didn't move them before he stained so each room has a giant spot where the sheetrock was against the wall. He also did not cover floors correctly so sheetrock dust went all over them. To make matters worse, the stain did not adhere to concrete and he didn't seal correctly so it started to peel up. There are scratches everywhere and tape marks from the floor being covered by painter (he did this correctly but it peeled up the stain).

So for the last two weeks, he has been trying to fix the floors. I think they almost look worse now. I wanted a grayish floor that was not dark and you can tell by the photos that is not the case. My question is what do I do now? I have already paid him some but I do not have faith that it will look right in the end. Scratches, tape marks and drywall spots are still there. Should I let him continue or cut my losses? And if I do fire him, what do I do to fix the floors?
