Spring citrus pics and grafting update...

Hi guys! I have been busy getting my house in order, but wanted to post a few pics of my trees and grafts. We had a good rain last night, and with the warmer temps, my trees are exploding with growth...it warms my heart! This is Alexander, my largest Meyer, who fared better this winter compared to last. He is glorious with so many blooms!

He has a few older leaves that are a bit yellow that are gradually falling off.

My troubled bouquet de fleurs that had two leaves left after this winter, is growing back. Maybe I’ve turned the corner....I’m afraid to hope..

two finger limes!! Can’t wait to try them...when do I know if they’re ready?

this is an unknown blood orange variety. I love the shape of this tree! It is a grafted RB tree I bought locally...great tree...no trouble at all

These are all the store bought mandarin twigs. This last one took a while to grow, but seems to have finally decided to sprout. All of these were cleft grafts. None of the bud grafts ended up taking even though they stayed green for a while before drying up.

these two are ST grafts. The last one is just starting to sprout.

Finally...this is my red lime a few of us bought last fall. I really like this little tree and loved the fruit.

Hope you had a beautiful Mothers Day weekend, Laura! Your trees look really nice and it is so wonderful to see that first flush of spring growth and to have them all outside where they can enjoy the sunshine and rain. Happy to see that your BDF is leafing out. My poor tree still has bare, but green branches. I was hoping to see signs of new leaf buds pushing out by now, but it is taking its sweet time. It is my most temperamental tree to date. Has your red lime tree bloomed yet? No buds on mine yet.

Hi Jinny and Sunshine! I hope you guys had a great day yesterday. Jinny, the red lime has one fruit from where it blossomed over winter. It had a ripe lime I removed recently. It is now really sprouting, so maybe it will bloom again. Not sure what the blooming cycle is for it or if it’s everbearing. I hope your BDF buds. Mine took its time also, but has been outside longer than yours I suspect.
Another of mine that’s on fire (do you guys have one?) is my Seville...Jinny, I’m pretty sure you do ). This one definitely needs a new container.
every branch pretty much looks like the last pic! What a grateful tree!

Laura - hope you and all the other GW moms had a great Mother's Day! I know your trees are happy to get the natural rain and sun. Congrats on your grafts and cuttings too! Hope they do well this summer! :-D

Laura - I want to know what you’re doing, that the rest of us container growers (or maybe it’s just me?) are missing. Your trees always look so happy and healthy! You must have a natural flora intuition.

Laura congratulations on your grafts!! And Happy Mother's Day to you and everyone else as well! It's so amazing to see that the twigs took and will grow healthy for you. It makes me so motivated to graft some of my own one day! My tango stem twig that I'm trying to root is still alive so far. If it ever grows into a large tree, I can definitely share some cuttings with you for you to graft in the future! It may be a long time before then though. The prospect of grafting less available varieties is so exciting! As usual your other trees are as lovely as ever.
