It is a Walmart paniculata offering so a sunny spot in your area would be fine. I have not seen it for sale here though.

It is a Tim Wood hybrid originated at Spring Neadow Nursery in MI and sounds like it should stay small.

NHBabs, thank you for the information. How small is small with this variety?

It's a typical compact paniculata (info from Walmart): "Pinkachu Hydrangea is part of the Better Homes and Garden Collection.
This hydrangea is a paniculata and can withstand full sun. It produces
two-toned blooms which start out as white and change to hot pink. When
planting this shrub, dig the hole twice as wide as the pot and mix rich
garden soil in with your native soil, then leave the top of the root
ball 1/2-inch above the ground level when filling the hole with soil.
Use a slow release granular fertilizer in spring. Not guaranteed to be
in bloom on arrival. Ships Dormant in Winter.
Pinkachu Hydrangea (Paniculata):

• Mature Size: 5-8'H x 5-8'W
• USDA Zone: 4-9
• Water twice a week until established
• Full sun
• Deciduous"

Hmmm..I might pick one up. They were only $15 and a pretty good healthy size.

LOL. Thread Clickbait.

I was expecting a thread on sort of new yellow hydranga - in reading ~pikachu~

I bought one at Walmart in 2018. It is currently full of leaves but no signs of buds yet as it inst time for them yet, I am in Houston Tx. i am excited to see its pink color. Although 5-8 ft is pretty large for a hydrangea! I had it in morning sun and have now moved it to afternoon sun in a pot. we will see how much sun it can really handle
