Bathroom help -Style

So,

We’re changing the bathroom. But keeping the tiles due to affordability and we’re planning on selling the house. Any suggestions on maximising space and not having a boring box?

Impossible to tell with these pictures. Renovating for resale is very rarely a smart idea, sellers almost never see their money back.

I don't understand the poster's comment (I have no idea what the space looks like) and I don't understand Sina's comment (renovating to resale is often times a must in order to get your money in the sale so I completely disagree unless he can give more context as to what he's referring to).

Agree that the posted pics don't show enough of the bath in the right way. Can't really discern the bath at all from the panoramic pic.

Please post a few pics here in the comment section showing the whole room (no panoramics). Thanks.

PS: sometimes the best thing to do is repairs, fresh paint, fresh towels and accessories.

A good home Stager could help you more than tackling changes where large renovations are needed. The main thing you can do is declutter drastically and then clean, clean CLEAN! Then, price below market value a little to attract people who want a deal but are not afraid of tackling major renos. Good luck!

It’s a really small family bathroom we’re very hands on and will be doing in ouselves. Thinking we won’t replace the tiles around the bath and will just keep the bath tub - but replace taps

House has been on market (UK) for five months. Had a seller and it fell through. Rest of house renovated, we just haven’t done this room

A double shower curtain? What’s that?

Oh I get u. What a good idea xx

A plastic shower curtain inside the tub and a decorative shower curtain hanging outside the tub.

Do I get a vanity unit?

Will a vanity fit? If not, try above the w/c storage like this one or storage in the wall. I agree with auntthelma that curing the storage deficiencies and adding the colorful, or even luxury white, accessories will go a long way to updating your bath. Is the wall behind the door finished or in progress?

Here is a small bath done in white and a little bit of color - one wall papered. Looks terrific IMO. People want clean, uncluttered, light and bright spaces when they are buying. Storage is what they look for too. The monogrammed shower curtain is nice, but not necessary. You could just go with the white shower curtain (and the plastic liner in the tub). I like the double curved rods too. See pic #2 below. That added 6 inches on the curve makes the whole shower experience better IMO.

I don't think a vanity will fit and it will further cramp the space to say nothing of challenging current code requirements of distance from toilet to vanity. So, leave that alone. Re-caulk the joint between the tub and the tile. Declutter and clean, clean, clean. Of course, the cinderblock wall needs to be finished off. I would paint everything SW High Reflective White for a fresh, clean, bright look. Fluffy white towels on a hook on the new wall is all you need. You have to replace faucets for tub (plyers not a good look! haha!) and do them in Chrome. Shiny everything will help. A new light fixture (water rated) would help as well. I would get two small nice boxes (waterproof) to put all your toothbrushes, toothpaste (daily items) into so they are organized and not visible. I would also remove most of the items on the open shelf. I would get a larger pull out mirror to make shaving and make up look like it would be easy in the bath. Ultimately, the buyer will probably completely gut this, so do what you can as inexpensively as you can.

    Haha, I love my plyers

the wall isn’t finished but it’s not costing us anything as father in law is plastering the ceiling and the wall. We need to take the tiles off of the wall with the window as the previous owner tiled around the toilet and sink so we’ll have gaps!

I am torn between a dash of colour or just doing it white. I do like the coral colour for a pop but unsure if it’ll go with brown?!

Also do you think we keep the toilet and sink?

If so, would it look weird to have three walls tiled?

All good ideas. You really don't have room for a vanity but I agree with adding storage over the sink. If you add a cabinet over the toilet with a mirror that is hinged on the right, the mirror could be used at the sink. It will also give you a place to store toothbrushes, etc. Add a pretty plant to the windowsill and a ceramic soap dispenser. Definitely new taps and a new toilet. Find the lowest profile toilet you can that will fit in the space. I would definitely paint everything white and add a clean, fresh shower curtain. Blues look good with white so maybe something like this.

Glad to hear you're plastering the walls and ceiling. Be sure to paint the ceiling in a flat white to cover any imperfections. Since you still have to live there, add a shower caddy to the corner to hold shampoo, soap, etc.
Be sure all the towels you put out are bright white and clean. Flo also suggested the same as I was going to-be sure the fixture in the tub is rated for a wet area. Hope this helps!

You will get most out of space with all white.

Replace the wooden toilet seat with a new white one too. Good luck!

Thanks guys! Last question - what light fitting would work?

    For where-the shower?
