Yes sunflowers. I'm in zone 9a on Whidbey Island in the PNW.

Yes I have had it in a big pot for a while now. It started to bloom and while the plant is OK looking now, I think it'll look really good as time goes on. The buds and leaves are so compact;. I don't know if that's the plant's characteristic itself or if the nurseries spray chemicals to make the plant super tight. Right now the flowers have no stems ton speak of but I hope as the season goes on there will be some stems on them for cut flowers.

Sunfinity sunflowers have their own website.

Apparently they are triploids (like seedless watermelons or bananas), since they won't set their own seeds. You can buy Sunfinity seeds, but they are rather expensive.

Grin. I don't know if they are resistant to tsunamis. You might need that.

Yeah the seeds are expensive. I wasn't going to buy any this season but walking through our local nursery, I saw a healthy looking Sunfinity plant for $12.99. I had to try it. It doesn't set seeds but it is supposed to have nectar for bees/butterflies etc...but I haven't seen any on them yet; They're too busy on the lavender next to it.
