Modin flooring?

Hi there! Please let me know if this post is inappropriate but we are at our wits end with redoing our kitchen. We have narrowed down our flooring choices to the Modin by Flooret collection but we are not good at picturing which color would work best with our kitchen. If you have any opinion whatsoever, it would be greatly appreciated. We have been fighting with our insurance/redecorating for over a year now and we are so close to getting done. TIA

The floor brand we narrowed it down to https://www.flooret.com/modin-rigid-vinyl-plank/

Hi, I think Kingswood would look nice.
Pretty kitchen! I think one of the darker colors without /yellow in it would be beautiful.
Thank you guys for the feedback! I do like the darker color of the Arbor but I'm worried about dealing with footprints. I live in the desert so dust is a big thing out here.

Have you made a decision? I'm considering Arbor, Ashford, and Madeira. Definitely different colors!

    Hi cah2028

just this past week I had the Modin Kingswood installed in Master BR and 2 hallways and love it. Have you ordered samples from Flooret? I ordered 7 samples, 4 of them gray-toned (which I was sure I wanted), but immediately chose the Kingswood as my favorite. I understand what you're going thru re: insurance. My re-flooring was a result of burst toilet pipe flood, and am dealing with ins. co. too. I think your decision would be based on personal color scheme, adjoining rooms (will the new flooring be continued into other areas as well?). If you haven't already, I'd suggest ordering samples; I rec'd mine in less than a week. Please let us know what you decide, and it will all be over soon......at least that's what I keep telling myself!

@jakesfnm We just placed an order for Kingswood :)

@Wilmathecat Thank you for your advice! We actually ended up doing the same thing. We ordered a box of sutton and kingswood (we also got some other colors in the sample size and various other boxes from other brands) and the kingswood won the secret ballot elections unanimously. We actually just placed our order for the Kingswood.

If you dont mind my asking, which transitions did you go with?

I'm glad to hear we are both near the end of our insurance nightmares! Our roofing flew off during a rain storm and it flooded our kitchen and spilled over to the surrounding living room and tv room.

I didn't order the transition strips prior to installation as I wasn't sure what I would need. When installer was here this week, he talked to Devin @ Flooret, and I ordered the matching reducer transitions. The new flooring starts about 2/3rds down the hallway leading to 2 brs and the main bath. Since carpet is remaining in 2 brs, the transitions will go across those 2 doorways (carpet higher than LVP). A transition strip will also go where slate tile from first 3rd of hallway meets LVP flooring. Since the LVP is level with the tile in bathroom, my installer is going to just caulk the 1/4" space where LVP meets tile at doorway. He'll use a caulk that's color matched to the flooring. The flooring continues seemlessly into the Master br and then into the walk-thru closet area, stopping at MBR tile floor (which again will just be caulked since it's level with LVP). Hope this makes sense, please ask any other questions you may have.

We are quite impressed with the quality of the New Rigid Vinyl Plank. Could any of you who have used Flooret Modin in the “Kingswood” pattern post pictures of your installations. We’re trying to decide from several samples and really like its color but since it’s relatively new we haven’t been able to find many photos to see how it would look after installing in a room. Thanks
  • 8 years ago

we are going to use Kingswood upstairs. I thought I'd go for Sutton, but the slightly deeper Kingswood is the winner. :)

Do any of you who have installed Modin floors have photos of it you could post? We are considering it and ordering samples but it’s hard to find photos of real-life applications. I would love to see how it looks in your home!
I will post pictures when we get it installed. They are on a bit of a backorder but we should be getting it by the end of this month and installed next month. We bought a single box from them to help with our decision. It helps a lot to see it in your own house
  • 8 years ago

I'd love to see photos too! I just ordered some sample planks, and Sutton is one of them.

here's a photo of Kingswood flooring installed.

Your floors look great. The contrast with the wall color is right on.

@wilmathecat, have you noticed if your Kingswood floors show footprints? I've been looking at Flooret Modin but have read of other mfg's vinyl plank flooring that shows footprints/sockprints and are difficult to clean.

    thank you!

Thanks jakesfnm! mtnfever, I read those comments too and saw the photos of footprints. I walk barefoot all the time, especially now that it's 110 degrees in the Los Angeles area, and no footprints or smudges of any kind. Also no paw prints or nail scatches from dog scampering across the floor or jumping on/off bed. After floor was installed in early June, I vacuumed with stick vac, then washed with Swiffer Wet Jet.....then I read that Wet Jet formula can leave a residue on LVP....didn't notice any.....but still went over floor with spray bottle filled with plain water and regular, old-fashioned dust mop, and the floor looks just perfect.

@wilmathecat, thank you for your reply! It's great to hear no footprint issues with the Flooret Modin--restores my hope for flooring easier on my poor feet as well as easier to clean (than grout)!!

Thanks so much for posting the photos of your Kingswood Flooret installation. My husband and I were happy to see how nice it looked on the floors in your home. Great job! It was also nice to hear that it didn’t show footprints especially since we had decided to place an order before June 30th in order to take advantage of the company’s free shipping offer on backorders. Like others, we also had a hard time choosing between Sutton and Kingswood. This was mostly because we liked the Kingswood color better but were afraid it would show a repeating pattern worse. We did get two pictures from the company that I’ll post now which helped us to decide. I’ll also post pictures of our own second floor installation once we receive and finish. Hopefully that won’t be too long now as it sure has been hard waiting. At least we’ve had plenty of time to paint walls, remove carpet and prep sub-flooring ahead of time though.

    are the 3 photos Kingswood?

Yes, These three photos are of Kingswood. They were supplied by staff at Flooret. We contacted them directly to ask if they could send us pictures of it as installed in a room. Currently their website "gallery" doesn't have some of their newer products as preview choices. I assume they will eventually update this feature on their website but for now these photos are what they had available to show us.

I installed Modin in our home salon a little over a year ago. The color is Noret. It has held up great to lots of traffic.

I am struggling with best flooring for my kitchen and house. I have posted two pictures of Modin Arbor and one of Coretec Logan Oak. I also plan to install throughout my home which has a lot of dark cherrywood furniture. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Shandra, which flooring did you choose?

I am still looking, but am leaning toward a color within the republic flooring line.

We are also deciding between Kingswood and Sutton... those of you who made the choice to go with kingswood over Sutton, what was the reason for your decision? Thank you all so much!

Hi Sarah, my choice was also between Kingswood and Sutton. I took both samples and placed them down side by side in the rooms that were being done. I moved the samples around each room at various times during the day as well as in the evening with lights on....kind of like what they suggest you do with paint samples. This is what helped me choose Kingswood...it just seemed to go better with my furnishings, lighting and wall color.

And I did the same as wilmathcat - not in different lighting though. Great idea. I was between Sutton and Arbor. I think it really does depend on the contrast with your furnishings etc.

Thank you both for your input! This is a new build so I may have to use a little imagination. But I will definitely get the samples and check them out in different lighting.

Do any of you with floors already installed have any advice regarding area rugs? It was such a process - choosing the perfect floor for me (Sutton!) Now, I'm nervous about putting down area rugs. All the rugs I like say that color may transfer to floor or carpet. Have any of you faced this issue?

    csant87,

Your stairs look beautiful done in the Modin Flooret. Can you post more detailed pictures of how they were done at the nose and at the open side and the walled side and the nose and the risers? Also, how is the railing at the base afixed onto the floor? I’m trying to figure out how to do mine and it seems like one isn’t supposed to screw down through the floor?

    Also, your salon looks amazing!

    Thank you!

Hello everyone! We finally got our floor in! Here are some pics of the Modin Kingswood in our living room, kitchen, hall and tv room. We are still working on the whole furniture thing.

That looks fabulous! I bet you are excited! The first picture of you kitchen, can you post a regular picture (not wide angle) to get a better view of the floor?

Thank you! I am very excited! I thought I selected it before but here's a normal picture

Nice! I’m between kingswwod and Brenwick, leaning toward Brenwick, but your pictures make me reconsider!

The Brenwick does look very nice, too!

It looks great!!! Thank you for sharing! :)

Does anyone have pictures of Brenwick installed? we Are looking Brenwick or Kingswood. I’m worried that the Brenwick pulls a little too red/orange.

Maggie, you can get installed photos from Flooret. Just message them. Here are two they sent me of Brenwick

Houzz isn’t letting me upload photos. But you can contact Flooret for them like I mentioned

    ishop19,
Here are some closer pics of the stairs. I glued the modin planks to the stair treads and risers. Flooret sells aluminum bullnose that I used for the front edges. On the left side I just made a skirt board out of MDF that the planks butted into.

As for the handrail, I did fasten it through the floor. This floor has been in for almost 2 years and I have not had an issue.

jakesfnm did you ever use flooret madeira

    csant87

Thank you for your stair pictures and description! That was super helpful. I got all the different stair product options that they offer now to see, but none work with my stairs. I have a protruding bullnose that cutting off won’t really work. You really need just a 90 degree with no overhang for this to work. That would take retreading 2 flights of stairs..,so I’m just going to do carpet.

I did have Brenwick installed on the floors and I love it.
