You probably need to recut it. The new babies come from the fresh cut - and the old mama leaf is already healed.

Yes, if the leaf is young enough, a second round of plantlets is possible. The second crop will be smaller, of course. You may need to trim the tip of the leaf blade to induce more plantlet growth, though. Use fresh potting mix to fill in where needed.
