Gulf fritillary caterpillars and mason bees

As intended, gulf frit cats are devouring the leaves of Passiflora 'Incense'. About half a dozen cats are visible at once. No worries, there's more than enough foliage to go around. I've noticed an equal number of mason bees in the same area. The bees aren't hovering or flying back and forth; they're just sitting there as if they were spectators for the cats' munching show. Do these two species have some kind of symbiotic relationship? The passion vine is not in bloom yet.
