The white could be any white, probably John F. Kennedy but could be Tineke.

The striped is most likely Oranges 'n' Lemons.

The Pure At Heart isn't John F. Kennedy

That white one sure looks like the exact photo on Weeks roses for Sugar Moon. I read on these forums about checking Weeks Rose site for photos. I bought one of those from Menards too.

You guys are awesome, I've been in a meeting so sorry it took awhile to reply. Diane, I think your right about the orange and lemons. Iowa Blooms, the picture for Sugar Moon is exact though the description is strange.

I had originally thought Pope JP11 from the name Pure at Heart, but it is SM. Now I wish I had bought it as I love my SM and would like some more for cutting. Maybe next year. Yes, look on the Weeks sight and match the pics. I matched all of mine that way.

My understanding is that the name might be trademarked. Some growers/sellers offer the same plant under a different name to avoid trademark violations/paying trademark fees.

Sugar Moon is still under patent, so I doubt that's your white rose.

R pnwz8a once a rose is out of patent, others can propagate (cuttings or budding) and they can also assign a different name.

I personally have wondered if these are lower grade plants that were not acceptable to the seller that has exclusive rights. The ones I bought I should be out of patent, but some of them still had made up names such a 'Snowflake' which was actually 'White Meidiland'.

Trademark is for name use only. It can extend for a long time. For example, the Coca Cola name has been around a long time and is still trademarked. Patent is for the ownership of the plant material and asexual propagation. Two different costs associated with producing a trademarked and or patented plant. (As I understand it--this is just from my own browsing on the subject).

I am guessing these growers have paid for patent use (or maybe they even get the lower grade, rejected starts at a discount as mentioned) and resell them without paying the trademark fees for the name use.

I think White Mediland name is still under trademark. I see it listed with the R in a circle, which signifies a registered trademark.

I am hoping one of my body bag roses is Julia Child. Anxiously waiting for them to flower. :D
