Melaleuca?

Can somebody tell me in plain English about Melaleuca? I looked at their website and it seemed to talk in circles.

Three couples from my town recently attended a M convention in Utah, and I was just curious.

Hmm. The only melaleuca I know is a nasty invasive tree that was planted experimentally in FL many years ago to try to suck up the water in damp areas (what we'd call a wetland today) and wound up taking over vast swathes of the state.

Yes, Delilah. That’s what I wondered too.

    But what do they sell?

It looks like they sell essential oils.

Melaleuca is Tea Tree Oil products. My sister and her husband used to sell this many many years ago and the products are fine but pricey. Yes, it's like Amway. My sister still uses their stuff and swears by it but doesn't sell it anymore.

Yep, pyramid scheme. They have been around probably 20 years I've heard of them.

Not gonna lie, I thought you were soliciting information on some terrible disease. No, just essential oils. Huh. ;)

A pyramid scheme is when money paid but no product or service is given in return.

Multi-level marketing? Whatever you call it, it's like the Amway or Mary Kay where the more people you get under you selling, the more money you make.

Melaleuca is not an essential oil company. They have been around longer than 20 years I do believe. I think my sister was selling it back in the 80s but I could be wrong. OK, just read it was started in 1985.

My sister cleans houses and she uses the Melaleuca cleaners for her clients. They are supposed to be safer without so many chemicals.

No, pyramid schemes are not the same as MML or direct sales.

Try looking at information about how much people at the bottom of Multi Level Marketing schemes like Amway make selling product. Most people will be at the bottom and most people apparently make a few thousand dollars a year at most. But of course Betsy DeVos is a billionaire.

I sold Melaleuca for a short time (between jobs) about 8 years ago. It is mostly cleaning & personal care products that are super concentrated so the assumption is that you save money. However, you had to sign up for auto-ship and I simply don't use that much product to keep it coming as often as they required. I did enjoy the products though.
