I am about to go on vacation and am having troubling deciding on the timing of my drip irrigation system. First note, I am extremely inexperienced. I have planted a lot (a LOT) of new plantings both in the ground (very small trees and shrubs, a few annuals) and in pots (generally more heat and drought tolerant plants). From what I understand, new plantings need more water than established plants. I have been watering once a week. My timers can be set to run every 7 days (but no more). The weather has been perfectly mild (mid 70's) but is expected to heat up to our normal summer temps at 80's and 90's right after I leave. I am in California Zone 9 (Central Sierra Foothills). I'm concerned about sticking to only once a week when the weather heats up and I am not here to check on everything HOWEVER fear trashing all my new plants due to overwatering if they don't need it.

Should I stick to once a week? Up it to every three days? Risk not watering at all?
