Cucumber Mosaic Virus?

Hi,

I tried to bring up some squash seedlings under a T5 growth light in the basement this spring.

Tondo Chiaro di Nizza (courgette):

Longue de Nice (Cucurbita moschata):

They both seem to suffer from disease, and at least the bottom picture looks very much like pictures of Cucumber Mosaic Virus that I've seen. From what I've read though, CMV is transmitted by insects from other plants, which seems impossible given that it was snow outside and no other host plants in sight.

The same type of patterns appeared on my brussel sprouts and kale last spring too, so perhaps the somewhat damp basement from 1892 is at fault? (The soil and containers were both new).

Any tips would be much appreciated!
