I’ve found several in my gardens again. My Elegans always manages some. I found some seedlings near my Ventricosa for the first time, transplanted the largest one!

No hosta volunteers for me this year. I do have baby Heuchera everywhere, though.

I have quite a few seedlings..some are big enough to move..they were hidden..I found them when I cut back a boxwood..they're not new..there is an Elegans close by..

The garden is full of seedlings. Last year I moved several to a holding area, and this year I dug 14 up for the local club's sale. Thought I'd price them cheaply and hope they find new homes. I kept 8 to see how they develop.

I managed to pot a few of the larger ones from last year and I see tiny pips emerging. New ones have also emerged this year in another part of the garden. Looks like one might be a Lakeside Cupcake seedling (shape of leaf ...maybe). Another one appears to be slightly ripply and likely a Ginko Craig offspring. Golden Scepter may have babes also - some appear lighter but a variety of shapes. They are too close to the walking path so I'll have to find them a home and watch them grow.

Connie, I chuckled at the last sentence...that's what I've been doing! Who knew you knew?! ;-)

The squirly one and a few others. (Candy Dish and Bridal Falls also grow in this area.) Bad photos, hard on the eyes, so sorry - it was still raining a bit and I was in too much of a hurry :( . Will hunt for more in the morning!

Thank you everyone for sharing! It’s really great to know that you are closely scrutinizing your soil like I am...I’m sure that my neighbours are wondering what I could possibly be doing.

I deliberately scattered seeds below several plants last season and so have been waiting all winter to see signs that any of them took. A lot of them took. I’m going to have to do a lot of culling / finding them homes.

Jo, that squiggly plant of yours looks promising. It reminds me of a year old gold seedling I have. It’s amazing that tiny plants can show so much character!

Connie, I agree! This particular one stands out like no other. I just came inside for another coffee after making my rounds, lol and found a golden seedling in the lawn just outside a bed. I'll have to rescue it. You've got me really scrutinizing everything and it's a good thing. What does your golden seedling look like this year?

These are all seedlings that have been around for a while. One of the pictures shows an Empress Wus with a big seedling (there are more small ones around). The first two seedlings are the same plant. I think it is amazing.

Jo, thank you, I had 6-7 other plain hosta that I planted far away on the corner lot in the hopes of them spreading. The last photo is the only survivor. It is struggling against the weeds and vines. It deserves to be rescued.

So....I'm cleaning away, and some weeding ... decided to look for more seedlings in the area they like to come up in. Look what I found against the brick wall... 4 more with the squiggly ones brighter than the greenie posted earlier. These were a distance away, inside the gate.

Yes, the last one does look like there might be some variation Jo - very pretty. What plants are likely parents for your squiggles?

I have many new JOTN seedlings this season - I never let it go to seed before and have learned that it is quite fertile.

Jon, it's so good to see you posting again. I was worried about your health. Amazing seedlings. I never get any or maybe I pull them thinking they are weeds. :) Nice discoveries, Jo.

DD- I bet I have stepped on and covered over quite a few myself. I should keep them all in one spot and use them as 'ground cover as they would be easier to keep track of.

I saw this seedling today..

What a pretty baby! Love that rich green almost blue colour. And it looks so perfect!

A few years ago, shortly after I joined this forum, I got interested in looking (or should I say I learned not to remove spent flower stalks if I wanted seedlings) for seedlings in my garden. Who knows but I bet I may have pulled some out as weeds among those prolific forget-me-nots! Finally a few (my very first) popped up all around Ginko Craig. Since then, every year more appear. I am happy to see them regardless if most are green. It’s like having a pet - to watch it grow. :-)

nicholsworth....I forgot to mention in your work project post Happy to get started ... that I love the moss growing on your rocks. The above photo reminded me. I had to remove some this spring from a couple of my small potted hostas....never had to before. I must have had them in moist shade last year or forgot about where they were tucked in :(-my bad.

Connie, on the side where they were found there is no plant matching that description and shape of leaf. Ripples on Arctic Blast, Candy Dish and Bridal Falls on that side of house. I do have Electrocution, and Curly Fries but in another area which these might resemble. Birds might have carried and dropped seeds perhaps? Or it could be your typical OP seedling...if that is the correct terminology.

I know you can use every one of those, like Christmas morning for you!

Nicholsworth- is that a second seedling in your post on Sunday at 6? Left side of the pic just a little higher up than the other one? Also, where you have many growing together, when will you try to separate them. I find myself in this situation in a couple of spots.

Jo - yes, I continue to spot new ones that have been slower at sprouting. I think I know which plants they came from...but it’s always possible that a bird moved it from somewhere else. How about you? Are you still finding new seedlings?

Connie..good eyesight!!.could be another one..I'll check it out..the seedlings that are growing in a group are so small..I feel like all I can do is wait..
