Too tall chest in foyer

I bought this chest loving the campaign style.I want to use it in my foyer. We cut off the legs which made it 39”.My ceilings are 8’. I have lovingly painted it a Kelly green. I hit the jackpot finding out the pulls are brass. To make a long story short I really want to use it but fear it is too tall. How do you place decor/mirror with it to make it proportional?

96 minus 39 is 57" of wall above the chest. What's the problem? Hang a 42 inch tall mirror over it, and add a lamp.

I don't understand the dilemma. There is plenty of room to hang something over this.

Well the height isn’t the issue. Overall placement might be...tall and skinny looks best on a shorter width wall (so maybe 8-9’ max). Don’t try to plunk it on a long wall and you should be fine.

If you have alot of wall and not a lot of cabinet, then adding width with small chairs, benches, tall pottery or plants can do wonders.

I realized I didn’t paint the face! Now, again what would you put over it. It is 39” and the ceilings 8’. Still seems too tall or out of proportion. Also going to put a gloss on it

It's not the height that is the issue for me - the chest appears too wide, deep, and heavy for the area that you want to place it in...

I love the color! What about a mirror over it?
It would look better on a wider wall if there is a different spot available.

I agree that it might be a bit too large for the area, but you might be able to make it work if you concentrate whatever you decide to put on top of it, off to the left.

The height is definitely not the issue it is a bit wide. Can you use it in a different space where it fits better? If not it fits within the trim, If you were keeping it there I would go for height
