Backsplash match dilemma

HI everyone! Trying this out for the first time...here goes: had beautiful new granite installed in my kitchen. Granite is called Ornamental Giallo and has browns, creams tiny bits of white and even some gray. I don't want to paint my oak cabinets because they are still in good shape so I changed to satin nickel hardware to update. I would love some advice on ways to make kitchen little more contemporary and trying to decide on backsplash and whether to stick with white appliances or transition to stainless steel

. Welcome any thoughts as my floor is still in good shape but awfully hard to match...

Since your floor has some movement and your counters have a pattern, maybe look at a nice cream-colored subway tile. If you wanted to add color, maybe a very light (sage) green?

Can you post more pics of the room in the original size so they expand? It helps to see the entire kitchen.

I will try to post more pictures but having some trouble loading original size. we used to have walls a brighter green color like olive green but this is an open kitchen connecting to dining room with cathedral vaulted ceilings so I wanted to pull a neutral color through both...it kinds ended up "blah" tho so I was looking for something that would pop but not be too busy. would you recommend a floor covering change?

What flooring do you have in the adjoining spaces?

    medium dark oak hard wood

Will be posting two more pics: one when kitchen wall still had green on it and one of adjoining dining room and floors. (please ignore mess on table.)

Would you recommend a different paint color?

Hard to tell with just the one pic, but I would probably have the same wood floor throughout. Are you looking to incorporate green again or another color?

I feel like its all too much of a blend and I feel like I need to change something but cannot figure out what. This granite is prettier than it looks in the pictures and I thought it would look different in.

If you can switch up your tiles I would. Maybe to a smooth (sealed) light slate. I'd go with something that is a single cool color without any strong pattern. If you're looking for a less extreme measure, just find a runner rug in a color you like and put some colorful towels / bowls out. An aqua would be pretty.

You might want to also post this dilemma in the kitchen forum where there are some posters that can photoshop in a backsplash for you too.

I think your paint color is perfectly fine, but right now your paint, granite, and tile are all fighting. Your granite and floors are fighting the worst, but removing any one from the equation will help. If you aren't willing to redo the floors to something more neutral, I would do an off-white paint color.

I tried to upload 3 more pics but wont let me

If I squint my eyes your counter and floor have the same tone so I think you’re ok. If you find the flooring too busy add a rug. I think just painting the backsplash with a neutral color will work and add pops of color in your accessories on the counter. Nice granite!

Load them here in the comment section

I have loaded them 5 times and they disappear...

I have Giallo Ornamental. Is it the photo or does it read gold? Mine is brown with taupe, no gold. I have white cabinets and it was very very difficult to find a BS.

But, I found Gracia Rixi in crema. You have to see this tile in person as it looks different online.

Inez, try loading now. Apparently Houzz was experiencing a glitch while you were trying to upload the pics. Should be fixed by now according to others.

eld6161: the ornamental takes on a goldish warm tone due to warm oak cabinets and the awfully load floor. Really leaning towards tearing it out. My husband is totally against painting the cabinets white or I would but I still think my main dilemma is the floor and prob choosing too light and neutral a paint for the walls.

Denita, tried uploading again but only shows a little icon and no picture when clicked and will not allow me to submit

I agree that everything else will fall into place if you fix the floor. However, the way to combat having too much color and movement in the floor is not by also adding to the cacophony by using a less neutral paint. I don't think you need to paint the cabinets either.

Weird. Sounds like they are still having issues with loading the pics.

You already have a backsplash, it’s the granite strip on the wall. I would not add tiles to that. If you want a different look, I would use paint.
