Shrubs Hydrangeas Garden

Will cut hydrangeas bloom in vase?

I've been battleinf bunnies and deer and they partially broke off a stem to my hydrangea that had the buds of three soon to be blossoms. I took it inside and recut it then put it in a vase. Will this bloom like a cut flower would Or is it going to die since it is a shrub?

The buds are too under developed to open fully. Hydrangeas can make a great cut flower but the flowers need to be quite a bit further along.

The "earliest" I have taken them in is when they are somewhat green, but all the tiny flowers are already developed and ready to be a nice cream, I don't think you'll have good luck with these ones.

Wow, this one is a tad premature to bloom now. Try cutting the bloom off and propagating the stem instead... to see if you get a new, free, hydrangea!
